John Howard Buckley born May 23, 1955, completed his much anticipated journey home to the arms of his Heavenly Father, April 2, 2012. Adored and cherished son, most wonderful of brothers.. the joy of fatherhood exceeded that of any level he ever could have anticipated. A man of strong moral conviction, his passions and interests were multifaceted. An ordained minister, he cherished the endless role as a disciple of Christ. He was a scholar of world religions, a Bible Study leader, a counselor for both church camp, and diabetes camp for youth; as well as Overeaters Anon, Alcoholics Anon, TICO and Maryhaven. Music flowed through his veins. He was a gifted and talented singer, was the unofficial Fifth Beatle, and in continual competition with his sister as THE top groupie for the Backstreet Band. Along with spending time with his family-both at home, and at church- he enjoyed billiards, scrabble, euchre, cribbage, and being a decorated member of the “Clean Platers” Society. Self proclaimed movie critic, animal lover, record- holding athlete, insightful writer, compassionate confidante, and a comedian with wit the speed of light. With his gentle soul, and empathetic listening skills, he will be missed by many. Preceded in death by his father Raymond M. Buckley, Jr., his memory will remain through his mother Billye Buckley, sister Chris Buckley, son Joe Buckley (granddaughter Cadence), daughter Julia Buckley, Uncle Ron Buckley and “bestie” Joe Schaefer- as well as his extended family- the Worth and Dottie Harman family, Betty Yaeger, Mary Webb, a worldwide church family, and many heartbroken friends. Special thanks to Pastor Don Young, Richard Saup and the wonderful staff at Arbors East. Family will receive friends Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 2-4 PM at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 Livingston Ave., where a service will be held at 4 PM, as well as a celebration , nearer his birthdate in the upcoming month. In lieu of flowers and gifts memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, the Recreational Department of Arbors East, 5500 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43213 or to the family to be used towards the funeral. Online condolences may be made to www.schoedinger.com
