

John F. Chapan, age 75, of Gahanna, Ohio passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Zusman House. He was born May 21, 1935 to the late Gus and Marjorie Chapan and was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary and brother, Jim. John had an entrepreneurial spirit that kept him always seeking out new ventures. He retired from Columbus Southern Power and formerly owned Buckeye TBA. He worked as a realtor in commercial real estate, and with his partners, owned Black Gold Management. John had a passion for automobiles, having restored a ’57 T-Bird, and was a private pilot who loved to travel; He enjoyed spending winters in Pompano Beach, FL. He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny” Chapan; sister, Helen Latham; sister-in-law, Alice Chapan; nieces, Lisa (Rich) Zumpone, Rebecca (Bill) Thompson; great nephew, Dominic Zumpone; great niece, Alyssa Zumpone; Ginny’s daughters, Kelli (Luis) Perez and Erin (Robert) Ellinger and grandchildren, Lauren and Aubrey Ellinger and Liliana and Jake Perez; and life-long friends, Larry and Helen Lintner.
