

John C. Cox, age 58 of Galloway, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. John was born in Columbus, OH on April 6, 1955, the son of Marianne (Newland) and Dale E. “Brownie” Cox. John was a Columbus Firefighter retiring in January, 2012. He was Mr. Fix-it. He could build it or do anything that needed done. He enjoyed traveling to the beach, camping and boating on Lake Erie, Buckeye Lake and Firemans’ Park. Above all, he loved his wife, kids, grandkids and two dogs. Along with his parents, John is survived by his wife Kim; his children Amy (Curtis) Garrett and Andy Cox; grandchildren Elizabeth, Noah and Julianna Garrett; sisters Jill (Bob) Morrow, Jami (Martin) Flais and Jeri (Ken) Zurhorst; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Chuck (Donna) Anderson, Mark (Jonna) Anderson, Jeanné (Marvin) Salts, Nick (Diana) Anderson, Adam (Neila) Anderson and Bonnie Anderson; many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, March 2, 2014 at IAFF Local #67, 379 W. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215 with Reverend Terry Morgan officiating. A private family interment will be held at Alton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made in John’s memory to Firefighters for Kids, c/o CME Federal Credit Union/Jackie Ayers, 150 E. Mound St., Columbus, OH 43215.
