John T. Dodson

John was a graduate of Holy Family and Holy Rosary High Schools. He served his country proudly in the US Navy on the USS Ranger. He spent many of his years as a truck driver and retired from CCX. After retirement, John worked as a custodian at the Gahanna-Jefferson Schools where he was a positive influence on the lives of many children. He was a dedicated member of the Teamsters Local 413 and the Allied Cres Bowling League. John was also a 44 year member of Grove City Nazarene Church where he was a proud greeter.

He was a great man who devoted his life to the care and well-being of his family. John had an enthusiasm for life and a smile to share with everyone. His example of a life well lived was admired by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Preceded in death by parents, Frank and Rose Anna (Smith) Dodson, and sister, Rita Blair. John will be missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Marlene “Marty”; son, Jevon (Carah) Dodson; siblings, Frank (Carol) Dodson, Robert (Betty) Dodson, Louie (Pat) Dodson, Anna Carnes, and Barbara Chambliss; many nieces, special friends, and angels. Funeral services for John will be at 7 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2011 at Grove City Church of the Nazarene, 4770 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123, where family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Pastor Owen Stotts officiating. I
