

John R. Gossman, 84, of Columbus, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011. He was born October 15, 1926 in Perry County, OH to the late James and Della (Houk) Gossman. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was a police officer with the Columbus Police Department, retiring as Sergeant with twenty eight years of service. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and enjoyed golf, bowling, reading and traveling. He is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie; 2 brothers Wilfred “Red” and Eugene; four sisters Madeline Barry, Mary Lintner, Lois Bruckman and Evelyn Holleran. He is survived by four sons and their children, Jeffrey (Mary) and daughter Kathryn; Phil (Emily) and children Adrienne, Jessi and Tyler; Timothy; and Matthew (Jianing) and son Bowen; two great grandchildren Harper and Corbin; brothers, Doug (Donna) Gossman and David (Patty) Gossman; along with sister-in-law Jeannie Hicks and brother-in-law Tom (Darith) Lacey . Family will receive friends Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
