John W. Holmes

John was born in Newark on January 20, 1946 to the late John N. and Naomi (Shumaker) Holmes. He passed away at the Selma Markowitz Care Center on July 22, 2013 while surrounded by family.

John proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam War. He was a member of the Heath Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his siblings, Joseph (Sara) Holmes of AZ, Dorothy (Randy) Sewell of GA, Kenneth (Joan) Holmes of IL, Kay Foster of FL, Donald (Ruth) Holmes of TX, Helen Anderson of Newark, Margaret (Donald) Bruce of Johnstown, Ruth (David) Holton of Bladensburg and Barbara (Richard) Kirkendall of Newark; children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his loving dog, Eddie.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Sayers.
