

John Watson Jeffers, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, December 21, 2013. He was born November 12, 1922 in Athens, Ohio, to the late John Logan and Annabelle Jeffers. Mr. Jeffers attended grade school and high school in Shade, Ohio. A veteran of WWII, he proudly served in the United States Army, with the 39th Army Corps Combat Engineers. He attended and graduated from Ohio University, after the military, and earned a BA in Business Administration. After 45 years of dedicated service, retired from Columbia Gas, as an Accountant. Serving within the Masonic community was very important to Mr. Jeffers, He was a long time, active, member of the Community Lodge, #684 F&AM. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 ½ years, Susan; children Karen (James) Meskimen, Constance A. Thayer and John B. (Diane) Jeffers; grandchildren John A. Jeffers, Danielle and Zachary Thayer and Jeremy Douglas; brothers Charles “Clair” Jeffers and Dale Jeffers; many nieces and nephews, especially his niece Andora (Tom) Marshall; special family friend Kevin Eddy; and close friend and co-worker with Columbus Gas, James Behrendsen. He is also preceded in death by his first wife Lois A. Jeffers; sisters Mary Lewis and Blanche Ann Wyrick; and a younger sister and brother. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Rd. in Upper Arlington. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ohio Masonic Home, 2655 W.
