

John Blaine Jenkins, formerly of Upper Arlington and Hilliard, Ohio, passed away on January 20, 2019 with his children and caregivers by his side. He was born on February 27, 1940 in Columbus and graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1958. John excelled in high school sports, playing baseball and was captain of the basketball team. He had many fond memories of outstanding teachers and coaches at UAHS, especially Charlie Will, Mike Kish, Bob Meeder, Pete Corey and Dave Shelby. John always enjoyed the UAHS Class of 1958 reunions and until recently never missed one.
John attended and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1962 with a BS in Business Administration. While at OSU he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. John was a very loyal Buckeye Football/Basketball fan and very proud to be a BUCKEYE. During his time at OSU he met the love of his life for nearly 50 years, Libby Muldoon Jenkins. Their first date was on March 19th, 1960 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on spring break.
John had several positions in the Human Resources field; Ross Laboratories (Columbus and Marietta, OH and Chicago, IL); then moved back to Columbus permanently while working for Huntington National Bank, Ranco Controls and Midwest Express Group (Honda Logistics LLC). John retired from MEG in 2006 after serving the company and subsidiaries for 15+ years in various Management, Officer and Director roles.
John was also involved in various community activities including Upper Arlington Civic Association Director and Officer; Upper Arlington Athletic Association where he coached boys baseball and girls softball. John was elected to the Upper Arlington City Council for two full terms from 1978 to 1986. While on council John served as Chair of the Safety and Insurance committee, member of the Parks and Recreation committee and Member of the Planning Commission. Hugh S. Jenkins, John's father, also served on Upper Arlington City Council from 1956 to 1960. John also supported the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity in local roles (House Corporation President) and national (Section Chief) graduate activities. In addition, he was a member at St. Brendan Catholic Church and a past member of St. Agatha Church
John is preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Wilma Jenkins; brother Hugh Jenkins; wife Libby Muldoon Jenkins; brother-in-laws William Muldoon DDS, Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Sam Muldoon, Columbus, OH. John is survived by son JB (Laura) Jenkins Jr., Lexington, KY; daughter Carrye (Werner Euskirchen) Jenkins, Cincinnati, OH; granddaughter Bridgette Libby Euskirchen; sister-in- law Nancy Muldoon, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 4-7pm Thursday, January 24, 2019 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL at 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221. A funeral mass at St Brendan Church, 4475 Dublin Road, at 10am Friday, January 25, 2019 with graveside services immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery.
