John J Savage

He was a man that loved people and golf. He loved to laugh and make people laugh. A remarkable thing for somebody who had such a difficult childhood. His capacity for affection simply should not have existed when considering the trials of his life. With his ever-present black hat and quick humor, “Cowboy” never made anyone feel like a stranger. His ability to make light of any circumstance was remarkable.

Graduating class 1960 Chickasha High School he loved playing football and basketball. "Johnny J from Chickasha" was a friend to all and had many hidden talents. He was amazing with numbers and loved to draw. After high school he joined the United States Air Force then met his wife of over 60 years Aida. The two raised their four children as they moved all over the country. He worked for the McDonald’s Corporation for many years and was very proud to be a part of their initial expansion to Texas and then Nevada, finally settling in Oklahoma. After McDonald's, he carried on in sales, worked at the "Walk-about" pub, and the Texas Motor Speedway. He was an example of hard work and consistently showing up. He introduced his family to faith. A gift that continues to give. He loved his Oklahoma Sooners and Ohio State Buckeyes.

In retirement, he could often be found playing cards, shooting darts and playing pool. His endless rounds of golf and love for sports brought him amazing friends. In his remaining years, he and Aida joined Moose Lodge #1427. A group of people he treasured.

He joins his wife Aida “Rusti” Savage and daughter Rhonda (McClary) Rogers in the afterlife. He leaves behind sons Phillip Cobb, Keith (Amy) Cobb, and Lance (Holly) Savage. His grandchildren, Nicole Wicks (John), Natasha Szczygiel-Hicks (Singleton), Tyler Savage(Kristen), Hannah Savage, Alexandria Koepke (Mike), Mariana Savage. Great Grandchildren Wyatt Brake, John Wicks, Jesse Wicks, Jeremy Wicks, Eve Wicks, Katelyn Szczygiel-Hicks, Michael Koepke, Max Koepke, Eli Koepke, Nathan Savage, Preston Savage. He is also survived by his siblings, Betty Dowty, Carol Kasulaitis and Kathy Hinton, and many beloved nephews and nieces. Stepdaughter Stacey Proctor (Robert, Jeremie, and Natalie).

He should be remembered for his smile and his laugh. His tenderness and warmth is his legacy. We will miss those attributes and him, dearly.
