

John Joseph “Joe” Shearn, age 74 of Columbus, Ohio died peacefully at home on September 6, 2016. He was born September 23, 1941 in Coshocton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father John William Shearn, mother Mary Jane, and sister Patrice McCullough. He is survived by his four children, Lisa Latimer, Kim (Heath) Monesmith, Jill (Brian) Shearn, John Shearn; friend and mother of his children, Kathleen Shearn; eight grandchildren, Brandon (Sydney), Tyler, Taylor, Cameron, Morgan, Caleb, Chloe, Coryn; great grandson, Grayson; sisters Judy Olgivie, Bridget McKee; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1961. He raised his family in Whitehall, Ohio and retired as a salesman from Flichia Wholesale Distributing in 1994. He spent many years volunteering in various organizations, most notably the American Red Cross. Joe is best remembered for his outgoing personality (he never knew a stranger), sense of humor, love of family, and his passion for Notre Dame football. “Go Irish!” Aside from his family, his proudest accomplishment was his 26 years of sobriety. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, September 17 at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 3730 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. This will be followed by a luncheon in the Parish Life Center.
