

Jon P. Hawks, age 47, of Ashville, Ohio passed away July 23, 2012. He was born September 6, 1964 in Circleville and was a graduate of Circleville High School, class of ’83. He also graduated from Columbus State and was currently employed by Glazer’s Distributors, where he was known as the “Rock Star Driver”. Although shy, Jon was a star from a young age, when he was awarded the blue ribbon in the Circleville Pumpkin Show Baby Contest. Later in life, he taught himself how to play the bass guitar and formed a successful rock band known as Category IV. He was witty and sharp, a great storyteller, and would give anyone the shirt off his back. Above all, he loved his family. He is survived by his mother, Gladys (Turvey) Hawks; his loving wife of 20 years, Debbie (Frey) Hawks; son, Austin Hawks; step-son, Nick (Michelle) Sharrett; brother, Mark (Kendra) Hawks; sisters, Marsha Hawks and Lora (Vic) Hawks; brothers-in-law, Robert (Carol) Frey, Charles (Patricia) Frey, Thomas (Bev) Frey and Jim (Peg) Frey; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Charles) Dodge, Shirley Bush, Ruth Speakman and Linda (Bret) Richter; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, co-workers and good friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hawks and brothers-in-law, David and Carl Frey. Family will receive friends 5-8 pm Friday, July 27, 2012 at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville, OH 43113 where services will be held Saturday at 10am; Rev. Phillip Rutherford, officiating; interment Harrison Twp. Cemetery, South Bloomfield, Ohio.
