Joseph F Chesnick, age 81, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022. Joe was born in Forest City, PA, where he developed his love for hunting and fishing. He served in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic. He eventually found himself stationed in Columbus, OH, where he started his family. Joe worked at The Ohio State University for over 35 years in the maintenance department.
His love for wildlife and the outdoors led Joe to take in and raise owls, raccoons, and more than thirty squirrels. He was a dedicated member of the Southeast Conservation Club. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Julia “Tursic” Chesnick and his loving wife of over 38 years, Catherine “Bourke” Chesnick.
Joe is survived, and will be truly missed, by children; Katie Chesnick Blitzer, Tom Chesnick, Joey (Holly) Chesnick and Theresa (Walt) Miller and grandchildren; Kasey, Makayla, Rachael, Sarah, and Rider, who affectionately knew him as Popa.
His family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Schoedinger North. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Interment with Military Honors at Resurrection Cemetery.
