

Joseph Francis Davidson of Columbus, Ohio, died on December 26, 2011. He was 91. A native of Columbus, Joe attended the University School as a boy, and graduated from Cornell University with a mechanical engineering degree in 1942. Following his assignment as U.S. Navy Lieutenant in World War II, he returned to Ohio and married Marjorie McKinley Osborne of Cleveland. Joe’s friends and business associates have known him as the consummate “automobile man”. He and Tom Green developed and ran Davidson-Green Volkswagen from the early 1960’s. He is a former president of the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association, member of Rocky Fork Hunt & Country Club, Brookwood Presbyterian Church, and the R.O.F.L.C. Thoughtful and considerate, generous and fair, Joe’s lighthearted character attracted many friends. Joseph is survived by his wife, Marjorie and three children; Holly D. Teetzel, Jeffery F. Davidson, Jessie V. Davidson, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Joe’s life in the chapel at Brookwood Presbyterian Church at 2685 E. Livingston Ave. at 2pm on Friday, December 30th. Donations in Joe’s name may be made to Twig 3 of Nationwide Children’s Hospital, or to a charity of your choice, in lieu of flowers.
