

Joseph Haley, age 63, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011. He was born in Columbus on August 2, 1947, to the late John and Barbara Haley, and he graduated from Holy Rosary High School. After serving in the US Army as a medic in Germany during Vietnam, Joe moved back to Columbus and began working for UPS. He also spent several years as a life insurance salesperson, and then started his own painting business. After spending many years as a business owner, he eventually retired from Nationwide Insurance as a lead painter in the maintenance division. Joe was very intelligent and determined, and he excelled at everything he did. He was an avid runner, and he liked to spend his free time fishing, hunting, or playing golf. He was a very dedicated member of the Church of Christ in Alexandria, where he taught Sunday School and Bible School classes and was a mentor to many. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Haley; children, Sean Haley and Amy (Greg) Redmond; stepdaughters, Lindsey Ross and Shane (Jeff) Powers; and grandchildren, Ryleigh, Raeghan, Jacob, Sofia, Mariah, Bobby, Nick, and Brandon. He is also survived by siblings, Marilyn, Jane, Terry, Margie, Sheila, Carol, Bobby, Danny, Steve, and Jimmy. He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul and John “Manny” Haley. A memorial service in honor of Joe will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at the Church of Christ, 5380 Moots Run Road, Alexandria, Ohio 43001, Pastor Kevin Hull officiating.
