Joe was born on August 3, 1956 in Youngstown, Ohio, to John and Dorothy Scott. He graduated from Richland High School in Pennsylvania and then attended Community College of Allegheny County. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy/Seabees/Reserves for 18 years. During his military service, Joe was stationed in Italy, Spain, Germany, Virginia and Florida; to name a few. He had the opportunity to see a lot of different countries and visited nearly all the 50 states.
Joe met his future wife, Rebecca M. “Becky” Travagline, and the two were married on August 5, 1978, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Together, they welcomed their twin daughters, Jessica and Stephanie, on November 30, 1985, in Pensacola, Florida.
Early on, he was a short order cook, did some welding in the Navy and had other odd and end jobs. He mostly did engineering work over the years. Joe retired as an engineer from S & G Manufacturing Group LLC, where he worked from September 2009 through August 2025.
A talented painter, drawer, and calligrapher, Joe found joy in many creative pursuits. He had a passion for model trains, music, and trivia. He was known to make people laugh, tell "Dad" jokes and was up for adventures. Along with his wife, Becky, he earned his mixology license, sailing lessons and participated in "casino nights," were they were card dealers for events. Most importantly enjoyed creating memories with family and friends.
Joe is survived by his parents, John and Dorothy Scott; his daughters, Jessica and Stephanie Scott; his grandchildren, Dominic, Thomas, and Michael; his brother, John (Dee) Scott; his sisters, Linda (Guy) Bogart, Diana (Larry) Caracciolo, and Joyce (Paul) Echtler; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He will be missed dearly and heaven gained another angel. RIP
