My deepest sympathy to Jeanne and all the family.  I have fond memories of Uncle Yupe.  When I was little, I always enjoyed going to his parties—he was a great host, always having lots to eat.  I remember when he moved to Cheswick and I found out what he paid for his house—wow, in my eyes, he must be living in a mansion.  I was sorry when he and all my cousins moved away.  We went to visit a few times, and always had a great time.  I remember one time he was visiting my Mom and I had just graduated from a secretarial school.  He said if I cut my hair, I would probably have a better chance of getting a job at Alcoa.  That kind of made me mad…but as usual he was right.  I did cut my long straight hair and eventually got a job at Alcoa!  You always knew where you stood with Uncle Yupe!  A more recent memory was when Jack and I and Monika and Ed visited in Columbus.  Uncle Yupe took us out to breakfast, but when we arrived there was a long waiting line.  After waiting a few minutes, he went up to the hostess, said a few words, and voila—out of line we went to a table.  His bigger than life attitude had that effect on people!  What I will most remember about Uncle Yupe was his generosity towards his family, especially his mother.  And of course his love of life—he was always the one who took chances and made the most of every opportunity.   As a result, he was successful all through life.  As the pop song by Darius Danesh goes, he certainly had the time of his life!  I am proud to say he was my uncle.  Beth Ann [Culleiton] Waclawski

Jeanne, please know that we are with you and your family in thought and prayer today.  Although we never had the opportunity to hear Joe speak, it was easy to see the man that he was by looking into his eyes...they spoke volumes right from the heart.  May God grant you peace and comfort during this difficult time.

What began as a business relationship with Joe developed into a friendship of long standing. As a client of his and as a friend, I found it most pleasant to be in the company of someone not only so completely dependable and professional, but also gregarious, upbeat and of the highest integrity. It was a pleasure too to be invited to his home at Christmastime, meet Jeanne and share in their delightful relationship. Connie joins me in expressing our condolences. We, too, will miss him and remember him fondly. We hope that the many warm memories that all family members hold dear will be of comfort to you in the days ahead.

I read about your dad in today's Columbus Dispatch.  I guess I had forgotten he lived in Columbus. Please give my sympathies to your brothers and sisters, too. I have such fond memories of many things.... Cliffside Drive, piling into the VW bug, and you and your dad trying to help me with algebra. Lost cause! Joe was my mentor and friend.   He was one of the kindest, most intelligent people I've ever known and I will miss his smile and heartfelt caring.
