Joy’s childhood was filled with loving memories of playing with the neighborhood kids and her family. She graduated from South High School in 1960 and was beloved by her classmates. She did well academically and socially and later went on to spend her life supporting children working as a nanny for over 30 years. Joy had stints in other careers – working for Borden Company, Huntington, 7-Up, and the Columbus City Schools as a crossing guard, but her true passion was always being a nanny to the children she grew fond of.
Joy always made sure to stay in touch with the children she helped raise, even going out for meals with them on occasion. She never married or had a family of her own, but the kids she watched over were just as much family as her parents and siblings.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her sister-in-law Anna Rose Fischer (Strunk). Joy is survived by her brothers Michael L. Fischer (Sarah), Donald C. Fischer Jr.; nephews Max M. Fischer (Stacy), Tony M. Fischer (Juli); Nieces Lena M. Lynch (Ryan); great-nephews Hayden M. Fischer, Myles L. Fischer; Great-nieces Sydney M. Fischer, Miriam J. Lynch, Tess E. Lynch; her cherished neighbors, and many friends made throughout the years. She will be dearly missed.
