

A funeral service, to celebrate the life of Joy L. Gleckler, 62 of Newark, will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 7:00 PM at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Reverend Mel Robinson officiating.
Joy was born in Sistersville, WV on August 24, 1949 to the late Jack and Donna Jean (Fiest) Lohri. She passed away at Kindred Health Care while surrounded by family on June 2, 2012.
Joy graduated from Heath High School, Class of 1967. Prior to retirement, she was a team leader with Buckeye Linen Service. She was a member of the VFW, Eagles Lodge and the Ancient Order of Druids, all in Newark. She enjoyed collecting elephants, crocheting and putting puzzles together. Joy also enjoyed painting and writing poems, having several of her poems published. She had a great sense of humor, was a good joke and story teller and was well known as a prankster. She never met a stranger and loved everyone she met. Being a great cook, she always hosted get-togethers for her family and friends, who were most important in her life. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Derald “Durwood” Gleckler, whom she married on June 7, 1980; children, Kevin Valentine of Newark, Nicole Moreno of Pfafftown, NC, Jacqueline (Ralph) Prince of Newark, Ja Valentine of Orlando, FL, Derald “Rusty” Gleckler Jr of Newark and Heather (Jay) Nabb of Heath; 14 grandchildren; brother, Jay (Lori) Lohri and Kara (Don) Christy, all of Heath; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
