Joyce A. Nelson

Joyce A. Nelson, age 76, of Powell, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. She was born in Ironton, Ohio on May 3, 1935 to the late Clifford and Anna Stevens. She was a 1954 graduate of Hamilton Township High School in Columbus, Ohio where she was a cheerleader. She retired from Gahanna Jefferson Schools after working as a Bus Driver for 22 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lulu Mae Stevens, Brenda Womack and Gayette James. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert S. Nelson; children, Gregory S. Nelson, Richard L. Nelson and Brenda (Jeff) Nelson-Barber; grandchildren, Nichole L. (Joshua) Walton, Tiffany A. (Ryan) Frost-Royse, Heather E. Frost, Nathaniel L. Nelson and Theresa Joyce Gunn; great grandchildren, Trinidy, Natiri and Aurelius Walton, and Liam Royse; brother, James (Vicki) Stevens; sister, Naanna McGee; family friend, Jill Nelson; and many other wonderful friends. Joyce will be remembered as a spirited, headstrong, determined, and accomplished woman who lived life to the fullest. You always knew where you stood with her. She was a loving and supportive mother. Joyce particularly enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joyce will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
