Joyce Lynn Ortiz

Joyce Lynn Ortiz, age 58, of Columbus, Ohio went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2021. She was born on May 24, 1962 in Augsburg, Germany (Army Brat) to Homer W. Barbary, Sr., and the late Sara Elizabeth (Reese) Barbary.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Sara and sister Ella Lorraine Reece.

Joyce graduated from Fort Knox Dependent High School (Class of 1980) as well as completed two years of college at the University of Louisville and Columbus State Community College. She was last employed as a Customer Service Supervisor at Insight Communications; she worked for Insight for over 20 years. Joyce was one of the funniest people you would have ever met. She could turn any conversation into Comedy Central! She loved music and dancing-and, boy could she dance! Her high school nickname was "Hollywood"!

She was previously married to Julio Cesar Ortiz, Sr. Together they had three children: Julio, Jr., Ciara, and Lourdes. She will be missed by her children and seven beautiful grandchildren: Romeo, Justin, Diana, Carter, Mason, Arianna and Hendrix.

She will also be deeply missed by her siblings: Julia D. Conyers, Carol G. Barbary, Cynthia E. Ward, Homer (Pete) Barbary, Jr., Marisa J. Barbary Miller, Michael W. Barbary, Mark Q Barbary, Sara Beth Barbary, Juana E. Barbary, Bryan P. Barbary; sister/niece Cynthia (Charmers) Watiker, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.

Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, from 4-7pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221. Guests are respectfully asked to wear masks and attendance will be monitored to ensure safety for everyone attending.

A private service for immediate family will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 10 a.m. (EST) at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221 and will (also) be shared with family and friends via webcast. She will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
