

Juanita W. Mitchell, 92, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born April 20, 1919 in Bradford, Ohio to the late Glenn and Pearl (Diltz) Wilcox. She graduated from North High School. After high school, Juanita dedicated her life to radio and television broadcasting. She was the first woman ever to be hired by a television station in Columbus. Juanita devoted much of her career with WCMH-TV retiring as the film director for the station. In addition to her parents, Juanita is preceded in death by husband, Edward and niece, Kathleen Smerker. She is survived by sister, Justine (Ralph) Thomas; nieces, Katherine (David) Frietsch and Patricia Russell; longtime friend and caregiver, Carol Carey along with many grandnieces, grandnephews; a great-grandniece and friends. Family will receive friends Friday, June 17, 2011 from 10:30-11:30 AM at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road. A graveside service will be held 2:30 PM Friday at Harris Creek Cemetery in Bradford, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5555 Franz Road, Dublin, OH 43017.
