

Julia Gardiner Hadley passed away on May 24, 2011. She was preceded in death by husband, Hugh M. Hadley; sister, Patricia McGuckin; daughter, Patricia Hadley-Ris, and son, David M. Hadley. She is survived by sons, Tom (Lee Ann) Hadley and Fred (Debra) Hadley; grandsons, Tyler Ris, Derek Ris, and Anderson Hadley; granddaughters, Laura, Madeline, and Katrina Hadley; sister-in-law, Ruth (Douglas) Dunbar of Andover, Massachusetts.
Julia graduated from Columbus School for Girls, attended Smith College, and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in English literature. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
She was a lifelong volunteer: Twig #2 of Nationwide Children’s Hospital, docent of the Columbus Museum of Art, Goodwill Service Board, Franklin Park Conservatory Women’s Board, WOSU, Ohio Historical Society, COSI, and her favorite, Thurber House, where she guided tours for many years.
She was a member of the Colonial Dames of America, Junior League, and the Little Garden Club.
Always interested in politics, she served as a delegate at the Republican National Convention in 1988 in New Orleans.
Julia was also member of First Congregational Church, Rocky Fork Hunt and Country Club, and the Columbus Club.
The Hadley family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Friday, May 27, 2011 at Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, 229 E. State St. A service will be at 10 am on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at First Congregational Church, 444 E. Broad St. Columbus, OH., with
Rev. Timothy C. Ahrens officiating.
