June Kathleen Ruoff, age 85, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2009. She was born in Columbus on January 12, 1924, to the late Carl and Reba Evans, and she was a lifelong resident of the Columbus area. June attended Central High School, but she did not have the opportunity to complete her studies until the age of 60, when she went back to school and earned her GED. She worked as a cook for Southwestern City Schools, and she also spent several years as an office manager for the Lazarus Driver Training School. But mostly, June was a caretaker to those around her, always putting others before herself, and she wanted to be remembered as a good mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grove City, where she formerly taught 7th grade Sunday school. She also belonged to the Florabunda Club in Harrisburg, making flower arrangements for charity. June loved to play cards and was a member of a Bunko club. She was very competitive, and she greatly enjoyed playing Scrabble with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and going out to dinner. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Russ Ruoff; and siblings, Jean (Fritz) Schulz, Carl (Lois) Evans, and Loren Evans. She is survived by her children, Dawn (Fred) Rogers, Ted (Susan) Ruoff, Lorna (Stan) Lusk, and Peggy Frebault; grandchildren, Brad, Rusty (Teri), Barbie, Kathy (Todd), Nikki (Paul), and Heather (Dustin); brother-in-law, Ray Ruoff; 12 great grandchildren; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City. On Wednesday, December 30, 2009, friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3220 Columbus St., Grove City, where a funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
