Karen had that certain "something" that I miss already. She was a wonderful person that touched many lives, including mine. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and loved ones.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the loss. Karen was a friend and co-worker of mine while she worked at the Columbus, Ohio VAMC as well as at the On My Own bingo hall. She was a worker bee and very personable. She will be missed by many, our loss is Heavens gain. Another angel to look down upon us and look out for us. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at their time of grieving. May God Bless you all always. Amen

My thoughts and prayers are with Karen's family and friends.  Karen was always full of energy and vitality.  Her knowledge of the VA was so tremendous and she helped guide our programs through many changes.  Her loss will be felt by everyone - not just because of what she knew, but because of who she was.

I had the opportunity to work with Karen for about a year and a half at the National Fee Program Office in Denver. She was a wonderful person to work with. In my office now, I have memorabilia that she would bring back from business trips. Karen was always willing to lend a helping hand. She will be missed very much; not only by her family, friends and co-workers but by the VA community as well. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.

My thoughts and prayers are with Marc and Karen's family.  I worked with Karen in the Denver Fee office for over seven years, her efforts on behalf of Veterans will have a lasting impact nationwide for years to come.  Whenever I see leopard print high heels or a jib-jab cartoon I will remember Karen.  Karen will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with Marc and Karen's family.  Karen was a great person and well respected in the VA community.  I will miss her shoe fashion sense and how every outfit had it's own shoe accessory :)  Karen you will be missed.

Karen worked with my late beloved brother Les Niemiec in Denver. He thought the world of Karen and would often talk about her. What sad news this is to lose Karen. Know she is in good company.

I only worked with Karen for a short time but it was easy to see how willing she was to help a co-worker and share her knowledge. My condolences to Karen's family.  She always had a tremendous caring and concern for the Veteran and their families, which made the VA a better place.  She will be missed.

Karen was an amazing woman.  I'm glad to of had the many years of getting to know her where we could share stories, laugh and undertand each other when we talked about work.  Loosing Karen is a signficant loss for many reasons and she was a mentor to so many people.  What I appreciated about Karen was her honesty and she held nothing back.  She willl always be remembered and have a special place in my heart.  My sympathies to Marc and all of her family.

My sincere condolences to Karen's family.  She will be sorely missed.  I only worked with her a few times at the VA, but she was so willing to share her knowledge (and humor) with me! My thoughts and prayers to Karen and her loved ones.

Our deepest sympathies are with Marc and Karen's family.  Jana and I have know Karen since 1987 when Karen was initially employed by the VA.  We are so saddened by this and will miss Karen deeply.  Karen enjoyed her job and cared about the Veterans we serve.  Karen excelled at her position and we will never be able to find someone who had the knowledge and expertise Karen had.  Karen had many friends, co-workers, and acquaintances across the country which have sent notes of disbelief and sympathy.  As Karen's co-worker, friend, and sometimes mentor, I will miss Karen deeply.  Each time Jana and I look and play with our black lab, Chevy, we will remember Karen, because through Karen we adopted Chevy, which has provided us so much joy, we will alway remember....

Our thoughts and prayers are with Karen's family and Marc. We grew up together in the Royal Manor neighborhood of Gahanna and spent many years together in the same schools. Years ago when I found out that Marc & Karen were dating, I was so happy and  had the opportunity to share many good times together at our Annual Holiday Gathering and playing some competitive Billiards. This is such a tragic unexpected loss...
