

Karen Ann (Garger) Lee, age 66, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2010. She was born May 15, 1944 to the late John and Katherine (Entres) Garger in New York, NY. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Evelyn Lee. Karen is survived by her husband of 43 years, David Lee; daughter, Jodi (Eric) Porterfield; son, John (Whitney) Lee; grandson, Drake; brother, John “Jay” (Linda) Garger; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Shirley (Joseph) Patton, Harold Lee, and Larry (Janet) Lee; many nieces and nephews. Karen grew up in Newark, Ohio and graduated from University of Cincinnati in 1967 with a degree in Interior Design, and went to work for the Thomas W. Ruff Co. She found enjoyment volunteering at First Community Church as well as Nationwide Children’s Hospital where she served as a member of the Pleasure Guild. She was voted Northwest Woman of the Year by the Northwest Rotary Club. Karen will be remembered for her love of history and her outgoing, selfless, and caring personality. A celebration of her life will be held with a visitation 4-7 p.m. Monday, October 11 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL 1740 Zollinger Rd. and a memorial service 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 12 at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd., Columbus with Rev. James Long officiating. Private interment will take place at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ohio Buckeye Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society in her memory.
