

A funeral service for Kathleen P. Collins 89, of Newark Ohio will be held on Tuesday October 20, 2009 at The Criss Schoedinger Funeral Home 179 Granville St. Newark, Ohio at 10:30AM with Pastor Arthur Ball officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens. Formerly from Northern Virginia, she was born in Butler County Kentucky to the late Oscar Phelps and Corda Heath. She passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Autumn Health Care Center surrounded by her family.
A seamstress for the federal government at Fort Belvore, Virginia, loving mother of 5 boys, married to the love of her life, Alvey B. Collins Sr. for 50 years. It was said that she could keep up with the best of them. She enjoyed going to Zerger Hall and play cards and bingo. An avid coin collector and gardener, she also had a great sense of humor, and adored her all of her grandchildren. She will be sorrowfully missed by all who knew her.
Along with her husband and parents she is also preceded in death by her son Robert Lee Collins; siblings, Lorene Moore, Earline Baker, George Phelps, and Beulah Terrell.
Survivors include her sons; John O. Collins of South Carolina, Alvey B. (Judy) Collins Jr. of Virginia, Mike T. (Teresa) Collins of Newark, Bruce E. (Shirleen) Collins of Frazeysburg; Grandmother of 23; Great grandmother of 33; Sister Mildred Hundermer of Virginia.
