Kathryn A. Culver Madden

Kathryn A. Culver Madden 71, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on May 19, 1954, in Illiopolis, Illinois, to the late Robert and Mary (Soat) Culver. Kathryn was a supervisor with the Environmental Health Division of Columbus Public Health for 19 years. Kathryn's distinguished and dedicated career included over 42 years of service as an environmental health professional beginning in Vigo County Indiana then working in southern and central Ohio public health departments. She was a long-standing member of the Ohio Environmental Health Association serving on many committees for the organization, including chairwoman of the OEHA Southeast District Planning Committee. Her work to strengthen this organization and to mentor and support those new to the profession were reciprocal as she made many contacts throughout her work that she later referred to as good friends. Kathryn was compassionate not only in her friendship but loved her pets and was a frequent donor and supporter of cat and dog rescue organizations. Kathryn will be missed by many as a loyal and caring friend. In addition to her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Allyn Culver. She is survived by her brother, William Culver of Winterville, NC; aunts, Joyce Culver of Paris, IL, Jane Lee of Casey, IL, Joyce (Chuck) Galla of Shelbyville, IL; uncles, Tom Vail of Taylorville, IL, Ted (Carrie) Vail of Ramsey, IL and Larry (Bunny) Soat of Haverhill, MA; many nieces, nephews, cousins; dear friends, John, Kelli, Amelia, and Jennifer. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kathryn’s memory to an animal rescue of your choice. Private services will be in Paris, IL at a later date.
