Kenneth H. Faerber

Kenneth H. Faerber, 81, of Stoutsville, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 at his residence. He was born July 21, 1932 in Newark, NJ, the son of Harold G. and Marie (Rogers) Faerber. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Joan Peterson.

Ken served in the United States Air Force from 1951 -1971 during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

Ken was a life member of AMVETS Post 2256 where he had served as an officer, was active with the Youth Committee and was a proud member of the AMVETS Honor Guard. Rare was the time Ken missed standing at the graveside of a departed comrade. In October of 2012, at the age of 80, Ken was privileged to go on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

Ken loved his family and especially enjoyed the grandchildren. He was a fan of the Bengals and OSU football. Weekday mornings Ken could be found at the AMVETS shelter house playing cards and drinking coffee with his friends.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Carol J. (Hamrick) Faerber; children, Kathy Faerber, Karen (Kevin) Schrimpe, Donna (Bruce) Kountz, Kevin Smith and Roberta (Chris) Caudill; grandchildren, Danielle and Lee Brust, Stratton and Stephen Johnson, Michael (Michelle Price) Kountz, Katelynn Kountz, Zachary (Sarah) Kountz and Cory Kountz, Hannah and Molly Caudill and Dominic Picklesimer; great-grandchildren, Kylee, Alysse and Annarae; and many other family members and special friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 30, 2013 at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Celebrant Andrew Hoover officiating. Burial will be in Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery with military service provided by AMVETS 2256 Honor Guard. Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M Thursday at the funeral home.
