KIM RHOMELL OUTLAW departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday May 4, 2014. Kim was born on August 26, 1961, in Dayton, Ohio to Pallie and Roy Outlaw. The Outlaws moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1964. Growing up, Kim ran track in school and played the flute in the marching band. She graduated from Northland High School in 1979. Kim worked at Nationwide Insurance for more than ten years before joining the Navy in 1992. She was stationed in Jacksonville, Florida. After returning to Columbus, she worked as a Customer Service Representative for Cigna and Zurich Insurance Companies. In 2012, she joined the customer service team at J.P. Morgan Chase Bank where she was working at the time of her death. Kim was an excellent worker and very sharp on the job. In her leisure time, Kim had a passion for sports; that included rooting for the Buckeyes and Dallas Cowboys. On November 12, 1994, Kim gave birth to the joy of her life: daughter Makela Gabrielle Outlaw. Kim was a devoted mother from the start. She understood the importance of her new role as a mother. Shortly thereafter, Kim accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church. Kim was fearless in her determination to provide Makela with a good life. She sought out extracurricular activities for Makela in track, volleyball, gymnastics and cheerleading. Kim also made sure that Makela received any academic assistance she needed. Kim richly blessed her daughter with experiences traveling across the United States to Orlando, Florida (Disney World); Washington, D.C.; Baltimore, Maryland; and Humboldt, Tennessee; as well as, Chicago, Indianapolis, and New York. Just this past December, Kim took Makela to Los Angeles, California. Kim enjoyed sharing photos from their trip with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed telling everyone that she and Makela encountered Robin Thicke while walking across Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. A great mother and wonderful sister: Kim was fierce. She also had a softer side not everyone had a chance to experience. Everyone who knew her would agree that she embraced life with energy and passion. Kim lived her life unafraid of a challenge. Makela expressed the following sentiments about her mother: When it came to my "Mommy," she was my heart and backbone. I loved her dearly. Mommy would do anything and everything for me. She had my back and I had hers. When I say that she was my best friend-I mean it. Mommy knew when I was hurting; and, she knew when I was filled with joy. We may have had our mother and daughter arguments, but we always came back to each other. Mommy was so loving and caring. She would help you if you if you needed it. Mommy was so helpful and her heart was pure. This is going to be more than hard for me. I just know she hated seeing me sad. So, I am going to try and be strong for her. Mommy was everything to me; and now she is my precious ANGEL. I just pray that we meet again. Kim was preceded in death by her mother, Pallie Ann Outlaw. She leaves to cherish her memory her father, Roy Outlaw; her devoted daughter Makela Outlaw; devoted sisters Myra Outlaw (Washington, D.C.) and Olivia Outlaw Singletary; aunts Annette Young and Phyllis Wood of Dayton, Ohio; uncles Dewey Nolan and Morris Nolan of Dayton; nephews Charles Andrew Outlaw; Nathaniel Elijah Singletary, III; Quinn Wood Singletary, and Aaren David Nowlin. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 10, 2014 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, where family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the time of the service. "When I Must Leave You"
by Helen Steiner Rice
When I must leave you
For a little while-
Please do not grieve
And shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you
Through the years,
But start out bravely
With a gallant smile;
And for my sake
And for my name
Live on and do
All things the same,
Feed not your lonliness
On empty days,
But fill each waking hour
In useful ways,
Reach out your hand
In comfort and in cheer
And I in turn will comfort you
And hold you near;
And never, never
Be afraid to die
For I am waiting for you in the sky!
John 14: 6
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."
