Though she was born in Seymour, Lallie spent most of her childhood growing up in Magnolia, Arkansas. She eventually became a teacher at the Columbus State Community College, where she dedicated her life to her students and their future. She enjoyed this until her retirement in the 70’s when she decided to spend more time focusing on her health and wellbeing.
Lallie was a proud member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a women's organization focused on promoting education for women through scholarships, grants, and loans, while fostering strong bonds of friendship and mutual support. She always advocated for women’s rights and had a strong intellect and drive.
Lallie also had a love of reading, often with her nose in a good mystery novel. Her personal collection of books only grew over the years. Her strong intellect drove her for success and always speaking her mind. She met her beloved husband, Richard, after placing an ad in the local book review magazine stating she was looking for someone interested in reading and astronomy. That caught Richard’s attention, certainly, and the two began their life together.
When Lallie wasn’t reading or spending time with Richard, she also enjoyed weaving beautiful creations on her loom.
In addition to her parents, Lallie is preceded in passing by her sister, Mary Beth Needels. She is survived by her husband of many wonderful years, Richard Embs, and her caregiver and friend, Mamawa (Molly).
A burial will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 10AM at Union Cemetery, 2249 Olentangy River Rd, Columbus, OH, 43202. In lieu of flowers, dedicate an act of kindness in Lallie’s name.
Please share your condolences, memories, and kindness with Lallie’s family.
