

Lena D. “Lee” Foster, age 93, of Gahanna, OH and formerly of Hudson, NY, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015. She was born September 3, 1921 in Frankfort, Germany to the late Heinrich and Margret Krauss.
She moved to Yorkville, NY (on the Upper East Side on Manhattan) at age 7. During the War, Lee waitressed at the Hoffman House and the Circle Line in NYC. In 1945, she married Raymond Drum and they made their home in Churchtown, NY.
She founded Lee’s Hoagie Shop in Hudson, NY in 1959 and then waitressed at Yorkshire Farms in Hollowville, NY for many years. Lee loved waitressing and talking to people making them laugh.
Lee married Wally Foster in 1975. She retired to Arizona and moved to The Worthington in Gahanna, OH in 2005 to be closer to her son.
Lee will be remembered for being a fun and loving person who brought a lot of joy into people’s lives.
In addition to her parents, Lee was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Drum; second husband, Wally Foster; daughter, Valarie Lawton; and brother, Hugo. Lee will be missed her loving son, Raymond (Sharon) Drum of New Albany, OH; grandchildren, Rob Drum, Lisa Filli, Julie (Dave) Ryon and Lori Drum; and great-grandchildren, Sophie and Teddy Filli and Kaylee and Joanne Ryon.
Private burial will be held at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery, Valatia, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lee’s memory to Kindred at Home Hospice, 28000 Corporate Exchange Dr., Ste. 140, Columbus, OH 43231.
