

Leonard John Santoro, age 79, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in his home at Oakleaf Village. He was born December 3, 1932 to the late Pasquale and Catherine Santoro in Staten Island, NY. He grew up in Staten Island, NY taking a bus, boat, subway, and a long walk to Xavier High School in New York City, NY. He received a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from University of Detroit, where he met Patricia, his wife of 54 years, on a blind date. After college, he served three years as a navigator in the U.S. Air Force before moving to Columbus, OH to work for Tully, Ames, Elzey & Thomas Architects and later Patrick + Associates. He served as a past president of Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). He retired from Oberfield's, in Delaware OH, in 1997. Even in retirement, he enjoyed planning his dream house and playhouses for his grandchildren to enjoy. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He loved to golf and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and New York Yankees fan. He was a charter and active member of St. Anthony Church. He is survived by his wife Patricia; sons, Frank (Susan) Santoro of Brentwood, TN, Bob (Chris) Santoro of Cincinnati, OH; daughter Mary (Ken) Sheetz of Carmel, IN; and grandchildren Philip, Jennifer, Ryan, Kristin, Michael, Matthew and Mia; brother, Frank (Nancy) Santoro and sister, Carmela (Richard) Santoro-Scarsella, both of Columbus, OH. Calling hours will be held Monday, June 18, 2012 between the hours of 5-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, OH 43229. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM, Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at St. Anthony Church. Fr. Thomas Petry, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 North High Street, Lewis Center, OH 43035.
