Leonard Andrew Woods

Leonard was born in Roanoke, Virginia, to Georgianna Woods. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and coach. Family was at the heart of Leonard’s life, and he cherished the time he spent with those he loved.

Leonard had many passions and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, singing, and cooking, and he could often be found riding his lawn mower and keeping the grass just the way he liked it. He enjoyed playing board games and cards, but perhaps what he enjoyed most was sitting around with family and friends, telling stories, joking, and “talking bull” with anyone who was willing to join in.

Leonard was a man with a big personality and a wonderful sense of humor. To his grandchildren, he was affectionately known as their Papa Smurf a nickname that reflected the playful, sometimes ornery side of a man they loved dearly. Beneath that gruff exterior was a caring heart and a man who made his presence known wherever he went.

Leonard will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His laughter, stories, humor, and the memories created through countless moments together will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Survived by his wife, Teresa Wilson; brother, Christopher (Anna Martin) Woods; children, Roxi Wilson, Harley Wilson (Chad), Roger Wilon, Aundrea Taylor, Kevin Taylor, Lurinso Tolber, Dwayne Tolber, Mary Parker (T.J.); along with many other children he raised, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His family finds comfort knowing that Leonard’s love and the memories he created will continue to live on through the generations he leaves behind.
