Leslie Ann Harrison - daughter, sister, aunt, friend – of Upper Arlington was restored to her Father on Sunday, August 27, 2023 after a very short illness. Through the care and attentiveness of so many wonderful staff members at The Laurels of Norworth, she entered peacefully and painlessly into His presence and is now rejoicing in her new, unbroken body.
Born in Columbus, Ohio on October 13, 1960, Leslie was the only daughter of Ellis B. and Julia F. Harrison. She graduated from Worthington Christian High School in 1980 and, because of her love of children, began work as a daycare instructor. In 1982, at the age of 22, she was involved in a one-car accident that left her body very broken and with traumatic brain injuries. In the years that followed, Leslie worked hard to overcome those injuries. Through her parents’ diligent efforts, she swam, she biked, she walked, she worked puzzles and performed various tasks that exercised her brain. Leslie (with her mother by her side) volunteered at numerous churches, hospitals, schools, libraries, community and art centers where they taught Sunday School, shelved books, folded laundry, stuffed envelopes, answered questions and seated guests among other tasks. Leslie faithfully attended Calvary Bible Church in Clintonville. Most importantly, she brought laughter and smiles to all she met. She was perpetually upbeat and, at the same time, very honest about the world and the people around her. Leslie’s perspective, short-term though it may have been due to her brain injuries, brought joy to so many over the years and will be dearly missed.
Leslie is preceded in death by both her father and mother. She is survived by brother Matthew D. (Rachel) Harrison, brother Wade E. (Hope) Harrison, nephews Drew (Jordan) Harrison, Ben (Lisa Graham) Harrison, Jonathan (Carly) Harrison, Jake (Ciera) Harrison, Ryan (Morgan) Harrison, Adam (Aspen Snyder) Harrison, Alex Harrison, nieces Brooke (Alex) Stuart, Natalie (Matthew) Toffey, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A private gathering of family will be held graveside on Sunday, September 3 at Greenmont Union Cemetery in Freeport, Ohio. Leslie was a life-long animal lover. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor can be made at Columbus Humane.
Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST.
