Leslie J. Welch, age 80, passed away after a courageous battle with ALS on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. Leslie was born on July 6, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio, to Charles L. and Anna F. Betz. Leslie retired from Southwest City Schools, where she worked as a bus driver, and she also served others as a homecare aide. Caring for people was at the heart of who she was. Leslie wore her heart on her sleeve and always thought of others before herself, especially her family, whom she cherished deeply. Her Catholic faith and spirituality were an important part of her life, guiding her with compassion, humility, and a strong sense of service. She lived her faith quietly but committed , showing love through her actions and kindness to those around her. One of Leslie’s greatest joys was walking with her beloved dog, Sophie, who was her constant companion and a special source of pride and happiness.
Leslie was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Kelly (Susie) Betz. She is survived by her children, Sidney “Steve” Meisner, Christine Justice, and Mitch (Rachel) Meisner; her grandchildren, Torrence, Stephanie (Boris), Jared (Olivia), Martin (Regan), Keirstyn, Katelynn, Mason, and Kalyssa; her brothers, Daryl (Jan) Betz and Mike (Marla) Betz; as well as other relatives and many friends.
