

He received his undergraduate degree from Miami University, Ohio and his post-graduate degree from Harvard Medical School. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Lew worked as an anesthesiologist at Children's Hospital in Columbus for 31 years.
He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Lew had many interests including golf, sports, wood working, and was an accomplished artist. Most of all, he loved his family. Lew had a great sense of humor and lived his beliefs and taught by example.
In addition to his parents, his brother, John "Jack" Franklin, preceded him in death. Lew will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 66 years, Joanne (Dickey) Franklin; sons: Tom (Cathy), David (Linda), Charlie, and Dick (Kathy) Franklin; grandchildren, Katie (Sayre) Dolan, Drew Franklin, Karen (Wes) Patterson, Julie (Thompson) Mefford, Matt Franklin and Josh (Abby) Robb, Eric and Camille Franklin, and 2 great grandchildren, Carter and Tinley Robb.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on December 29, 2014, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2070 Ridgecliff Rd., Upper Arlington. Rev. Dr. Tracy Keenan, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lew's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Central OH Chapter, 1379 Dublin Rd., Columbus, OH 43215.
