Lois Belton James

Lois Belton James, 94, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019 in Columbus, OH. She was born July 2, 1925 to the late Clarence Belton Sr. and Bessie Mae Belton in Jacksonville, FL. Lois enjoyed the arts; going to movies, musicals and plays at the Ohio Theatre. She was an avid reader of novels and the newspaper. She loved talking about Jacksonville and African American history. Lois was a member of the Medical Arts Club and Guiding Lights of Union Grove Baptist Church. Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Larry James. She will be missed by son, Lawrence (Adrienne) James; daughter, Carol James; grandsons, Aaron (Sarah) James, Brandon (Melissa) James; brother, Clarence Belton Jr; nieces Jaqueline Fleming and Brenda Waters; nephew, Ronald Belton, great grandchildren, Emily, Allison, Christian, Samuel and Lucas James and Jameson the dog. Her family requests that, in lieu of flowers, all those interested, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association. On Saturday, September 28, 2019 the family will receive friends from 1:00- 2:00 pm and there will be a Celebration of Life beginning at 2:00 pm at SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL 229 E.
