Louis (Lou) Lambert Flynn, age 86, died at home on November 20, 2013. Lou (PopPop) taught us how to live and die with dignity, generosity, and humor. A gifted communicator with a big brain and tremendous wit, PopPop was a genuinely nice guy and truly one-of-a-kind. We’ll miss his thoughtful advice, giddy laugh, and twinkling blue eyes. Born in Pittsburgh, Lou was an entrepreneur who operated Louis L. Flynn & Assoc. (Columbus) and Flynn Auto Parts (Grove City, PA). A WWII vet, Lou served as a Marine in Hawaii. He attended Duquesne University on the GI Bill, developing a deep passion for learning. You never saw PopPop without a book, which he was always eager to discuss. Married for 63 years, Lou is survived by his wife, Dorothy Brown Flynn; children, Nancy Flynn (Paul Schodorf) and Tom Flynn (Sammi Porter Flynn); grandchildren, Bridget Flynn Schodorf and Luke Porter Flynn; step-grandson, Tim Schodorf; close family, John and Barbara Brown; Larry, Leslie, Gary and MaryAnne Basilone; MaryAnn, JulieAnn, Tammi, and Tim Brown. Preceded in death by father, Louis Flynn; mother, Violet High; step-father, Paul High; and half-brother, Paul. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, Nov. 23, at St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High St., Lockbourne, OH 43137, where family will receive friends from 10am until time of Mass. Msgr. Stephan Moloney, Celebrant. Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger Northwest Chapel.
