Lowell A. "Al" Miller

Lowell Alan "Al" Miller, age 75, of Bexley, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 26, 2018 at his home. He was born October 24, 1942 in Kenton, Ohio, son of the late Lowell A. and Berneda (Schmidt) Miller. He began as a math teacher at Barrett Middle School for several years. Al retired from IBM following 20 years of service. He then became the treasurer/technical officer of Proliance Insurance Co. for many years. Al is survived by his wife of 54 years, Penny L. (Beireis) Miller; children, Jan Alan Miller, of Tempe, AZ, Kara Louise Miller, of Columbus and Zachary William (Jewele) Miller and grandchildren, Zachary William Miller Jr. and Callie Marie Miller, all of Canal Winchester, OH; sister, June (Ron) Eire, of Forest, OH; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Wetherill. Al was a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Veteran U.S. Air Force serving during Vietnam War. He was a longtime head Scout Master with Boy Scout Troop #220, Bexley, Ohio. Al was also a ham radio operator (WA8SKM) for over 40 years. He was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church. Al was considered a Mr. Fixit and jack of all trades. There was nothing that he couldn't fix, repair or make and was a trusted and kind friend who would not turn anyone away. Most importantly was his family, as he taught his children many of the talents he possessed. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2314 E. Main St., with Pastor Tim Iseringhausen officiating. Family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. Private interment Hueston Cemetery, Forest, OH.
