

Sister Lucille Carter was born June 25, 1936 in Summerland, Mississippi to Cecil C. and Sarah A. Thigpen. The family moved to Columbus, Ohio when she was 15 years old. Lucille was a graduate of East High School. She married Charles E. Carter on August 28, 1955 in Columbus, Ohio. Two children were born into this union. She accepted Christ the Lord and attended St. Paul Baptist Church. In 1978, God led her family to Jerusalem Baptist Church. Lucille had a magnetic personality and loved music especially Jazz, Gospel, and Blues. Lucille lent her talents to many tasks in her lifetime; she was a seamstress and jewelry maker in her own shop, a real estate agent, and secretary for Franklin County of Court of Common Pleas. She loved the Lord and served her churches in the choir. She departed this life, Saturday June 23, 2012 at OSU Hospital. She is preceded in death by husband, Charles E. Carter; parents, Rev. Cecil C. and Sarah A. Thigpen; and two brothers. Lucille is survived by daughter, Cynthia L. Allen of Columbus; son, Commander Andre’ L. (Cheryl) Carter, U.S. Navy (Retired) of San Diego, CA.; grandchildren, Ayesha C. (Stephen) Price, Andreas C. Allen both of Columbus, OH and Nicholas A. Carter of San Diego, CA and 11 great grandchildren; sister, Elsie (Hollis) Williams of Columbus, OH, brother, Gable (Clara) Thigpen of Hazelhurst, MS; sister-in-law, Verdell (Arnold) Phillips of Columbus, OH; Ann Carter of Milwaukee, WI and a host of other relatives and friends. Family and friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at Schoedinger Linden Memorial Chapel, 2741 Cleveland Ave., Columbus, with burial to follow at Kingwood Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Mt. Zion Apostolic Holiness Church, 1580 Union Avenue, Columbus.
