Luegene Ida Harris(Croom)

A Funeral Service for Luegene Ida (Croom) Harris will be held Thursday March 11, 2020 at 12:00 P.M. at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Noble officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Harris was born February 8, 1921 in Westminister, South Carolina to the late Jack C. and Alice (Wright) Sitton. She went home to be with the lord Saturday March 6, 2010 at the Licking Memorial Hospital.

Luegene is preceded in death by her husbands George H. Croom Sr. and Alfred James Harris, a daughter Alyce Croom and eleven brothers and sisters.

She leaves behind her son George H. (Annie) Croom Jr. of Heath, daughter Freda Harris of Newark, adopted son Derrick Harris of Brooklyn, NY, and son George Taylor of Elizabeth City, NC. Grandchildren George K. Croom Jr.,Darryl H. Croom, Dana A. Croom, DeAndre A. White, Reginald Cutler, Anthony Bowers, Kevin Randall, Jerryse Bowers, Lorri Bowers, Nikki Bowers, and David Bowers; 29 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, a brother James Sitton of Tampa, Fla and a niece Alice Perrin of Newark.

Mrs. Harris graduated from Roosevelt School where she had records from the Track team. She was a member of Pastor Resse Mae Puryear’s Church Bethel Rock Church.
