Lyle K. Reed

Lyle K. Reed, age 85, currently of Aurora, Illinois, previously of Columbus, passed away January 26, 2011. Lyle was born and raised in the Columbus area, son of the late Esther and D.O. Reed, Sr. Also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joann “Jo” Reed, and siblings, Dana, Dudley, Richard, James, and John Reed. Lyle graduated from Grandview High School, Class of 1943. Following high school, Lyle proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Europe during WWII. Upon arrival home, Lyle graduated from The Ohio State University, Class of 1949. Lyle worked as a purchasing agent and retired from Kinnear, a division of Harsco, in 1988. Lyle was a very traditional man. He had a strong commitment to his family. Along with his children, Lyle was most proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed the time spent together with them. He was also a dedicated O.S.U. Football and Basketball fan, enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and hitting the slots in either Las Vegas or the Riverboats. He will be missed by his children, Jane (John) Hildreth and Kenneth Reed; grandchildren, Amy (David) Moran, Jeffrey (Amy) Amspoker, Robert Hildreth, and Kevin (Kristen) Reed; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Helen “Sue” (Bob) Hartman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where family will receive friends from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday.
