Macy was born April 28, 1930 in Toronto, Ohio to the late Elmer and Olive (Johnston) Francy as the youngest of 6 children and graduated from Toronto High School in 1948 prior to receiving her Bachelor’s Degree of Arts from Miami University in 1952. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.
After college Macy worked a short time for Procter and Gamble and after a trip traveling through Europe with her friend Emily, Carl Cooke Jr. welcomed her home in New York at the SS Andrea Doria and they were married a short time later. Together for just shy of 60 years, they raised a family of four sons and one daughter. Macy was a full time wife, mother, devoted member of Grace Brethren Church and a part time payroll clerk for the family business Fritz-Rumer-Cooke Co. Inc. When she wasn’t at the office earning her “mad money”, she was at home preparing delicious meals, gardening, baking and an active member of her Bridge Club. She was known for her wonderful smile that could light up a room, sense of humor, “the patience of Job”, sage advice, “old sayings”, green thumb, amazing pie crusts and her special apple crisp. Some of her fondest memories include many years at Yellow Creek where both she as a child and her children spent “endless summers”, sharing dinners from the garden, playing with her grandchildren and travelling with Carl to “Amish Country”, England, Ireland and Israel.
In addition to her devoted husband Carl Cooke Jr., she is survived by her children C. Clem (Karen) Cooke III, Tim J. Cooke, Alan R. (Donna) Cooke, Phil S. (Denise) Cooke and Francy (Mark) Zembo; 12 grandchildren Bryan, Courtney, Daniel, Caitlin, Zach, McKenzie, Elaine, Olivia, Wilson, Tyler, Cooper and Griffin as well as great grandson to-be Baby Bean. She is also survived by a brother Guy (Megan) Francy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers Jimmy and Bill and sisters Ruth and Anna.
