Malcolm David Green

Malcolm David Green, Galena, Ohio, passed peacefully into eternity on July 28, 2014. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones in his home. He was born October 27, 1944 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Willard and Maxine Green. He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his loving wife Ryan; daughter, Dawn Johnsen (Erik) of Indiana; grandson, Kevin; and two beloved kitties, Whisker and Callie. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Hope Green.

Malcolm graduated from Piqua High School in 1962, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana in 1966. He then joined the Army, where he proudly served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in Vietnam. Upon returning from Vietnam, he worked in the engineering field and then served in the Army National Guard. After resigning his commission with the Army, he served in the Air National Guard as a boom operator in the KC-135 with the 160th Air Refueling Squadron out of Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base.

Malcolm loved outdoor hobbies such as flying gliders and powered planes, hiking, wind surfing, sail boating, kayaking, and running marathons, including the Boston Marathon. He enjoyed traveling, especially to one of his favorite places on this earth, Acadia National Park in Maine, where he loved the lobster and the serenity. When he wasn't outdoors, he tinkered with electronics - including inventions made from soup cans that captivated his daughters when they were young.

Although Malcolm's physical body is gone, his memory will go on in the lives of his friends and loved ones. A memorial service will be held on Thursday July 31, 2014 at 5:00 pm at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until the time of the service. Because there will be no gravesite service, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Malcolm's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, Citizens for Humane Action, or to your own favorite charity.
