With deep sadness and heartfelt love, we announce the passing of Mamie Lou Chesser, October 12, 2026. Born on March 15, 1930, in Summit Station, Ohio, Mamie graced us with her kind spirit for 96 beautiful years.
She was the daughter of C. Wellington and Mary (Wheatly) Starr, and sister to Mary (Starr) Cahill and brothers C. Kelly Starr and Harry Starr, who all preceded her death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 74 years, William "Bill" Chesser whom she married on September 30, 1950.
Mamie graduated as the Salutatorian of her class from Summit Station High School in 1948. She was a long-time member of St. John's Methodist Church in Winter Haven, Florida, where she made many cherished friends.
Mamie's warmth and generosity were felt by all who knew her. Her smile could light up any room, and her loving and kind nature inspired those around her. She was always ready to lend a hand, never hesitating to step in and help wherever needed. Her passions included entertaining family and friends, playing cards, and watching sports, activities that brought joy and laughter to her life and those she loved.
Surviving Mamie are her many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. A special thank you to her dear friends Debbie and Jim Sears, whose love and kindness provided comfort to Mamie every day.
