Marcia Bell Hougland

Marcia Bell Hougland, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 19, 2010. She was born May 24, 1916, in Meigs County, Ohio, to the late Finley and Ethel Spires. She grew up in southeastern Ohio where she graduated from Greendale High School. She moved to Columbus in 1955 with her family. She was a self-taught artist who loved gardening, sewing, reading, and learning. She was a longtime member of the North Linden Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Hougland, Jr.; brothers, Robert Spires, Floyd Carson, and sister, Marguerite Wells. She is survived by children, Robert (Janis) Hougland, Jean Hougland, and Tracy Hougland; sister, Pauline Wahl; half-brothers, David Spires, Kenneth Spires, and Steven Spires; grandchildren, Tracey Bright, Dana Bright, and Eric Hougland; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at North Linden Baptist Church, 1783 Melrose Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43224, with Rev. Randy Kuhn officiating. Interment at Ridgewood Cemetery in Wellston, Ohio.
