Margaret A Barkow

Margaret A. Barkow, age 92, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born on November 4, 1922 in Newark, OH to the late James Francis and Loretta (Dolan) Grady. Margaret proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII where she met and married her beloved husband Jerry. Together, they raised three children and traveled throughout the East Coast during Jerry's naval career. Margaret retired from Children's Hospital Poison Control Center after 22 years of service. She was a devoted member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church for many years. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Gerard "Jerry" Barkow; brother, Jack Grady; sister and brother-in-law, Mary (James) Loewendick; and brother-in-law, William Watson. She is survived by her loving children, Patricia A. (Louis M.) Fishking; sons, James E. (Carolyn A.) Barkow and William G. Barkow; grandchildren, Melissa (John) Bedwell, Scott Barkow, Eric Barkow, and Michael (Cherie) Fishking; great-grandchildren, Emily and Abigail Bedwell and Keeley and Grady Fishking; brothers, James (Barbara) Grady and Michael (Mary) Grady; sisters, Elnorah Watson and Constance (Donald) Richards; sisters-in-law, Patricia Martynow and Dolores Engleking; beloved niece, Michelle Stevens as well as many other nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 5-8 pm Monday at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. Columbus, OH 43232. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor, 5199 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43213. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice, 6150 E. Broad St. Columbus, OH 43213.
