

Margaret Edna Brooks, age 79, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at St. Ann's Hospital. She was born August 20, 1938 in Dumont, New Jersey to the late Anna (Dyck) and Alphonse J. Brooks, II. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Alphonse J. Brooks, III and Dee Ann (Miltonburger) Brooks. Maggie is survived by loving daughter and son-in-law, Anne Brownfield Bennett and Rick Bennett; Grandchildren, Em and Nathan Bennett; nephews, Andrew and Jeffrey (Deonna) Brooks; cousins, Lois (Gordon) Carter, Paul (Flo) Dyck, Caroline, Andrew and Christopher. Maggie was a graduate of The Ohio State University, School of Journalism in 1960 where she was inducted into Theta Sigma Phi (communication), Kappa Tau Alpha (journalism) and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She retired from Denison University's Office of Public Affairs. Maggie volunteered extensively over her life, including roles with the Granville Historical Society, Dawes Arboretum, Welsh Society of Central Ohio, Granville Cambrian Club, Audubon Society, Women in Communications, 4H, and Twigs of Children's Hospital. Family will receive friends Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 2-3:30 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, Ohio 43229, where a memorial service will take place at 3:30 p.m. Private family burial will take place at a later date in Tavistock, Canada. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Granville Historical Society or the Welsh Society of Central Ohio.
