Margaret Rose Edwards, age 68 of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Margaret was born and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, daughter of the late Paul and Johanne Beckenstrater. As a young adult, Margaret moved to New York City where she worked as a registered nurse, a profession which she loved dearly. Margaret was a true caregiver. She had a warm welcoming spirit, and one might say she never met a stranger. She enjoyed playing tennis and even coached tennis for Bexley High School for a brief time. Margaret was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church, and was also involved in the Columbus Academy Mother’s Association, where she served a term as president, and the Hannah Neil Center. Most of all, Margaret loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was very proud of her family, and would do anything for them. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Dr. M. Farid Edwards; sons, Ahmed Edwards and Tamre (Heather) Edwards; grandchildren, Cyrus, Sebastian, and Julian; brothers, Hans (Phyllis) Beckenstrater and Peter (Beverly) Beckenstrater; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday, February 21, 2010 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Ave., where family will receive friends from 1 P.M. until time of service. Father Paul A. Noble officiating. Contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Columbus, 855 Grandview Ave., Suite 250, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
