Margaret D. Lentz (Meg) born April 19, 1929 died Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the age of 89. She passed her last short days on this earth as she had lived, gratefully taking joy in each day. Undaunted by her cancer diagnosis and comforted by her daughter, Beth, she continued to gather family and friends to her Worthington home bringing happiness to all in her company.
Raised in Cincinnati and while attending the University of Cincinnati Meg met and married Edward Lentz on May 30, 1952, a unification of two kind loving souls. The couple lived a number of places prior to settling in Worthington in 1975. The home Meg created was warm and welcoming. She was a generous hostess, a gardener, and astute antique collector. Most outstandingly, she was a gourmet cook who could astound guests with beautiful meals drawn from her extensive collection of cookbooks. Meg put her talents to good use in her volunteer activities hosting meetings and promoting events for the organizations she supported: Worthington Historical Society, Worthington Women's Association, Children's Hospital Twig, Friends of the Worthington Library, McConnell Art Center, and the Worthington Presbyterian Church. Meg devoted many volunteer hours to the Central Ohio Unit of the Herb Society of America and the Unit's Herb Garden at Inniswood Metro Parks. The fundraising raffles featuring Meg's prepared dinners were especially sought after.
Meg's serenity and open loving heart was felt by all, but her greatest love was for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Margaret Denier and her beloved husband, Edward Lentz to whom she was married for 63 years; brothers, William and James Denier. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Beth (Jeff) Randall; dear friend, Ann Martin; nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends. Meg especially enjoyed her close friendship with the 'Scottish sisters' and their visits to the Isle of Palms.
A memorial celebration of Meg's life will be held 6-8 pm on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, Ohio. In lieu of flowers contributions, if desired, may be made to the Worthington Historical Society, 50 West New England, Worthington, Ohio 43085 or the Central Ohio Unit of the Herb Society of America, 6058 Warbling Lane, Westerville, Ohio 43081.
